Excuse me for a minute. I've just been in the back yard screaming of idiots, wilful stupidity, and really, really bad parenting.

To wit:

An eight-year-old boy has died after accidentally shooting himself in the head while firing an Uzi submachine-gun at a gun fair in Massachusetts.

The club said on its website that the event was "all legal and fun" and would allow people to fire weapons at vehicles, pumpkins and other targets.

In case you hadn't heard: guns are a right in America. Not just guns, of course: we've got plenty of those in Canada. What's important is that any guns are a right in America.

"This is a horrible event, a horrible travesty, and I really don't know why it happened," said Mr Bizilj, a hospital director from Ashford, Connecticut.

I have some idea: you had an eight-year old boy shooting a fully automatic weapon. Somehow, it doesn't make me feel any better that it was with parental consent.

How about you?

What the **** was anyone at that event thinking? A whole group of people had to see them give that boy a SMG and not object.

Another reason why making a baby should require a license, eh? American gun culture is very, very weird.

A perfectly legal act that should never have even been considered.
